Get ready for some serious thrills and shrills, Austin.
COTALAND — Austin's much anticipated amusement park at Circuit of The Americas — will feature two new gravity-defying rides: the SkyBlazer and Palindrome, the first infinity shuttle roller coaster built by the Gerstlauer manufacturer in the US.
Even though the amusement park mostly will have children's attractions, the park will now add these rides, which will fall under the adult category.
The SkyBlazer will seat 18 riders side-by-side on a circular platform before raising them off the ground and then reeling them hundreds of feet in the air. After a few moments of sweat-dripping anticipation, thrill-seekers will be sent into a momentary free fall before the swing motion catches them + sends them soaring over a crowd of onlookers.
Palindrome — which means a word, phrase, or sequence that reads the same backward and forward — will feature a 95-ft vertical lift hill, 51 mph top speed, two inversions, and a vertical “hop-stall” before riders experience the ride again, but this time backwards. It will also be the first infinity shuttle roller coaster built by the Gerstlauer manufacturer in the US.
“COTALAND will feature everything from rides for young children to hair-raising experiences that will thrill even the most experienced theme park lovers,” said Matt Hughey, Senior Manager of COTA Karting/COTALAND.
The park is set to officially open in 2022. 🎢
